About HiCAIN
High-performance Computing, AI & Networking
Mission
HiCAIN is a project of start-up PacketFive, Packet Five Networks Limited which is the officially registered company name. HiCAIN exists to democratise expertise in AI/HPC infrastructure. The technologies that power supercomputers and large-scale AI training clusters — CUDA, InfiniBand, RDMA, OFED, Open MPI — are incredibly powerful, but notoriously difficult to learn, configure, and operate correctly.
Our mission is to make this knowledge accessible, structured, and open through free courses, open-source tooling, and community collaboration.
What We Build
📚 HiCAIN LMS
An open-source MOOC platform delivering structured, hands-on courses on AI/HPC stack technologies. Self-hostable, API-first, and free to use and contribute to.
⚡ SuperCompat
Supercomputing Compatibility Listings — solving driver, kernel, and stack version mismatches with structured compatibility matrices and a queryable REST API.
🔧 Future Tools
A CLI checker, Ansible roles, Terraform modules, and more — all aimed at making AI/HPC cluster operations less painful.
Open Source Philosophy
All HiCAIN projects are MIT-licensed and hosted on GitHub. We believe open-source infrastructure education multiplies the impact of every researcher, engineer, and student who benefits from it. Contributions, bug reports, and course contributions are always welcome.
Technology Focus Areas
HiCAIN specifically covers the software and protocol layers that are most critical — and most commonly misconfigured — in AI/HPC deployments:
- GPU compute stacks — NVIDIA CUDA, AMD ROCm/HIP
- High-speed fabric — InfiniBand (HDR/NDR/XDR), RDMA, RoCE
- Interconnect software — OFED/MLNX_OFED, UCX, Open MPI
- Data-plane acceleration — NVIDIA DOCA, BlueField DPU programming
- Hardware platforms — NVIDIA (Blackwell, Hopper, Ampere, Volta), AMD (MI300, MI250, MI100)
Get Involved
HiCAIN is community-driven. Whether you want to contribute code, author a course module, report a compatibility data error, or just star the repos — every contribution counts.
